Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and were in communication with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of the player by name in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, shared a series of photos on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She stated the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his role in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals hurt. He was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
