Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Deadly Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos confirmed on late Wednesday. The fighter was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update online that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.
“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.
Remembering the Victims
Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”
The news of his discharge comes as the boxing community had expressed sympathy for the champion in the following the heartbreaking incident.
